The Northeast Area’s ‘2011 Apprentice of the Year Competition,’ which was hosted by Local Lodge No 5, Zone 197 (Albany, NY), was held on May 2-6, 2011. 2011 marked the 25th anniversary of our Area competition. As in years past, the Northeast & Great Lakes Areas held their testing jointly.

As revealed during the Contest Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 5, the winner of the ‘John J Harrington Apprentice of the Year’ award was Brandon Dunlevy (L-154, Pittsburgh, PA), with the runner-up being Jonathan Gibli (L-5, Zone 5, Floral Park, NY). The winner and runner up will be represent our Area’s in the prestigious Boilermakers National Apprenticeship Competition in Orchard Park, NY (home of Local Lodge No. 7) during September 25-30, 2011.
“For 25 years we have been bringing together the best Apprentices our Area can produce. Each year we continue to be amazed by the skill level, dedication and professionalism of our Apprentices. This year was certainly no exception. We wish both Brandon and John well as they represent us in the upcoming BNAP Competition,” recently commented NEAAC Co-Coordinator Jason Dupuis.
